FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Supreme Court has adopted standard rules for judges to follow in legal cases involving family matter.
Deputy Chief Justice Mary C. Noble said the rules are intended to ensure a uniform approach to a variety of issues, including adoption, child support, divorce, domestic violence, neglect and abuse.
Noble said the new rules are based on practices already in place in Kentucky courts. They are intended to create more uniformity in the way judges, attorneys and others handle family court cases.
Noble headed the effort to develop uniform rules as chairwoman of the Supreme Court’s civil rules committee.
Judges from all levels were involved in developing the rules with input from circuit court clerks, attorneys and advocacy groups.
